FEMORAL FOOT PRINT FOR ACL/PCL

I have often found it difficult to get to the desired spot in the femur for drilling holes in ACL/PCL reconstructions. Invariably the Beath needle would feel as if it slips a few mm when I start to rotate it.
Here’s how I do it now.
Once the graft has been prepared and I know its thickness and the desired tunnel size in the femur, I would use the relevant size reamer as a sleeve and impact it lightly at the desired tunnel spot. Through the reamer the Beath needle is introduced and drilled through the femoral condyles. Reaming proceeds routinely thereafter. This ensures that the final tunnel is exactly at where I want it.
